Originally the conference was to be organized for the 2022 summer after the predecessor in 2020\, London. However\, the worldwide COVID-19 crisis forced canceling the London conference\, and shifting the Osaka conference to 2023. At present\, the organizers plan to have this meeting on-site after five years interval from the last ICCT-2018 (USA). \nThis conference aims to share new research results and discuss their scientific meaning in Chemical Thermodynamics which is a fundamental science that analyzes the properties and chemical changes of materials by applying thermodynamic principles. Understanding materials properties\, reactions\, phase behaviors\, and interaction of materials with environmental features in thermodynamic framework gives important bases for all areas in chemistry\, and they are closely related to applied chemistry and chemical engineering. The results and knowledge of chemical thermodynamics are also used for industries based on material science. In recent years\, research on heat conduction\, thermoelectric effect\, understanding of non-equilibrium in living organisms\, and global warming and energy problems in the environment has made significant progress based on chemical thermodynamics. The 26th ICCT conference covers a wide range of these fields\, such as the construction of fundamental theories\, collection of various data\, application of the data\, establishment of methodologies\, organic and inorganic materials\, polymers\, pharmaceuticals\, foods\, and environmental & safety problems. \nICCT-2023 should serve as an interdisciplinary platform and is open for all aspects of the chemical and physical behaviors of substances by virtue of the very nature of thermodynamics. Exciting presentations and inspired discussions of leading researchers and scholars in the fields of Chemical Thermodynamics will make that conference memorable. \nContacts: \nKazuya Saito (Univ. of Tsukuba) – kazuya@chem.tsukuba.ac.jp\nDepartment of Chemistry\, Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences\, University of Tsukuba\nTennodai 1-1-1\, Tsukuba\, Ibaraki 305-8571\, JAPAN \nYasuhiro Nakazawa (Osaka Univ.) – nakazawa@chem.sci.osaka-u.ac.jp\nDepartment of Chemistry\, Graduate School of Science\, Osaka University\nMachikaneyama 1-1\, Toyonaka\, Osaka\, 560-0043\, JAPAN \nPhoto by Nomadic Julien on Unsplash URL:https://iupac.org/event/icct-2023/ LOCATION:Osaka Senri Life-Science Center\, Toyonaka city\, Osaka\, Japan CATEGORIES:International Conference ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://iupac.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/ICCT2023_nomadic-julien-zDRO6ztMAHA-unsplash.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20230709 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20230715 DTSTAMP:20231228T231111 CREATED:20221108T115602Z LAST-MODIFIED:20221227T160419Z UID:22917-1688860800-1689379199@iupac.org SUMMARY:38th International Conference on Solution Chemistry DESCRIPTION:Solution chemistry is a broad and interdisciplinary field of chemistry\, physics and biology\, pharmaceutical and medical sciences. These systems\, which are also designated as polymer-solvent molecular compounds\, crystallosolvates\, intercalates….\, typically form through molecular recognition (intercalates) and/or through specific molecular interactions (complexes). While complexes of this type were known for decades for biopolymers\, such as cellulose/water\, cellulose/amines\, amylose/water\, amylose/organic molecules\,… their observation with synthetic polymers is much more recent which has triggered a renewal of interest towards these systems. The former six conferences were therefore entitled Polymer-solvent Complexes and Intercalates. It\, however\, turned out that more and more other systems\, such as supramolecular polymers (self-assembled systems) and proteins complexes\, were discussed\, as the scientists involved in their study clearly shared common concerns\, and in many cases similar scientific approaches. To acknowledge the broader range of systems presented in this series of conferences\, it was felt that a new name should be coined. POLYSOLVAT seemed to be an appropriate choice: a short name that conveys the general idea of specific interactions of large molecules with smaller ones. The 7th conference\, that took place in Marrakech in 2008\, was accordingly renamed POLYSOLVAT-7. \nAs is now customary\, POLYSOLVAT-14 will focus on the formation mechanisms\, the morphology\, the molecular structure\, and the properties of compounds from synthetic polymers\, biopolymers\, proteins\, and supramolecular polymers. The bulk state\, the solutions and the systems formed at surfaces/interfaces will be considered. \nContact Organizer\nJean-Michel GUENET\nInstitut Charles Sadron\, CNRS\, UPR22\n23 rue du Loess\, BP 84047\n67034 STRASBOURG CEDEX2\, France\nTel: +33 (0)3 88 41 41 45\nFax: +33 (0)3 88 41 40 99\npolysolvat14@ics-cnrs.unistra.fr \nhttps://ics-cnrs.unistra.fr/polysolvat/ URL:https://iupac.org/event/polymer-solvent-complexes-and-intercalates-polysolvat-14/ LOCATION:Institut Charles Sadron\, Strasbourg\, France CATEGORIES:International Conference ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://iupac.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/POLYSOLVAT-14.png END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20220917 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20220924 DTSTAMP:20231228T231111 CREATED:20220128T174233Z LAST-MODIFIED:20220920T150936Z UID:20258-1663372800-1663977599@iupac.org SUMMARY:POSTPONED !! 21st conference of the International Humic Substances Society DESCRIPTION:Natural humic systems and ecoadaptive technologies: On the path to chemical\, industrial\, and regulatory identities\nHumic systems chemistry is a fascinating field of modern science and a real new direction in chemistry.  The organizers of IHSS-21 believe that IUPAC support to this field of chemistry will provide invaluable contribution in elevating its status and drawing attention of young chemists to this complex molecular systems and to redefine the widely accepted generic name “humic substances” as “humic system” by providing chemical constraints to this term.\nThe Opening ceremony of the IHSS-21 will take place at the Lomonosov Moscow State University. If their existence was long suspected they were firstly taken into consideration by van der Waals in 1873\, helping to revise the equation of state for real gases. In comparison to covalent bonds\, intra- and intermolecular noncovalent interactions are in general locally weak and exhibit much lower energy and directionality\, as reflected by the term “noncovalent”. Nevertheless\, in many cases these interactions can collectively play a dominant role in synthesis\, catalysis and design of materials. In the first half of the 20th century\, these properties have already fueled passionate debates on their origin and nature particularly with the emergence of quantum chemistry with the works of Schrödinger and London. \nBased on the nature of the particular elements or synthons involved in the interactions\, noncovalent bonds are often classified into hydrogen\, noble gases\, halogen\, chalcogen\, pnictogen\, tetrel and triel «bonds»\, as well as agostic\, anagostic\, cation-π\, anion-π\, n-π*\, π-π stacking\, metal-metal\, dispersion-driven and hydrophobic interactions\, etc.\nAs the fields of noncovalent interactions are growing intensively\, several books in Wiley\, Royal Society of Chemistry\, Elsevier or Springer and four thematic issues on these weak forces have been published in Chemical Reviews in 1988\, 1994\, 2000 and 2016. The hydrogen and halogen bonds have already been defined by IUPAC (Recommendations 2011 and 2013\, respectively)\, the definitions for chalcogen\, pnictogen and tetrel bonds are under progress. Moreover\, there are international conferences/symposia on Supramolecular Chemistry\, and particular types of noncovalent interactions\, such as The International Conference on “Horizons in Hydrogen Bond Research” (established by Prof. Lucjan Sobczyk in Poland in 1977)\, International Symposium on Halogen Bonding [established by Prof. Pierangelo Metrangolo and Prof. Giuseppe Resnati in Porto Cesareo (Lecce\, Italy) in 2014]\, etc. \nThus\, the chemistry of this century is expected to be largely driven by noncovalent interactions and it was timely to establish a general/regular series of International Conferences on Noncovalent Interactions (ICNI)\, the first one of which was inaugurated on 2-6 September 2019 in Lisbon.\nThe second edition of ICNI will be held on July 19th-23rd 2021 in Strasbourg-France\, a high place of the research on noncovalent interactions and their applications.\nFurther editions within this series will be followed every two years\, in odd number years\, thus avoiding competition with other major series of conferences\, i.e.\, the ICOMC and ICCC\, which are being held in even years (2014\, 2016\, 2018\, etc.). The 2023 edition is already planned to take place in Moscow\, Russian Federation. \nChair of the Program Committee & Contact:\nDJUKIC Jean-Pierre – UMR 7177 – CNRS\nUniversité de Strasbourg\nInstitut Le Bel\n4\, rue Blaise Pascal CS 90032\n67081 Strasbourg Cedex\, FRANCE \nE-mail : djukic@unistra.fr URL:https://iupac.org/event/2nd-international-conference-on-noncovalent-interactions-icni/ LOCATION:University of Strasbourg\, Strasbourg\, France CATEGORIES:International Conference ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://iupac.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ICNI-logo.png GEO:48.5734053;7.7521113 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20220718 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20220723 DTSTAMP:20231228T231111 CREATED:20200327T133333Z LAST-MODIFIED:20220811T210155Z UID:11473-1658102400-1658534399@iupac.org SUMMARY:26th IUPAC International Conference on Chemistry Education DESCRIPTION:ICCE2020 was initially scheduled to be held 13-17 July 2020\, and first postponed to 26-30 January 2021. Ultimately it is now rescheduled to be held 18-22 July 2022. \nThe conference will be organised around the theme\, \nResponding to 21st century imperatives in chemistry education\nInspired by the vision of Nelson Mandela who said: \n“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”\n“The power of education extends beyond the development of skills we need for economic success. It can contribute to nation-building and reconciliation. The Apartheid system emphasized the physical and other differences of South Africans with devastating effects. We are steadily but surely introducing education that enables our children to exploit their similarities and common goals\, while appreciating the strength in their diversity.” \nNelson Mandela\, 1997 \nIt has been 24 years since the inauguration of Nelson Mandela\, however the education system is still scarred by the inequalities of Apartheid. ICCE 2020 is a forum where South African and International chemistry educators can build connections between research and practice to bring Nelson Mandela’s vision into a reality in South Africa and education communities across the world.  It provides an opportunity to build partnerships between local and international educators to provide a legacy on which to build the education system envisaged by Nelson Mandela. \nThe 26th IUPAC International Conference on Chemistry Education will be held in Cape Town from 18-22 July 2022. Seven themes will be developed. They are: \n\nCurriculum and assessment reform initiatives\nRethinking laboratory training post-COVID-19\nEffective instruction in the online environment\nTeacher education\, teacher knowledge and continuous professional development\nContext and diversity in chemistry education\nChemistry for sustainability\nChemistry teaching and learning\, pedagogy and cognition\n\nSee details (PDF) in this 1st announcement (released Sept 2021) \nReview important dates\, including\n1st round abstracts submission close: 10 April 2022\n2nd round abstracts submission close: 11 May 2022\nEarly bird registration closes: 18 June 2022 \nFor registration and Abstract submissions\, please consult the website\, www.icce2022.org.za\nInquiries: \nContact/chair of the local organizing committee:\nAssociate Professor Bette Davidowitz  \nChemistry Department\, University of Cape Town\,\nRondebosch\, South Africa\, 7700 \n\nSee also project ‘Young Ambassadors for Chemistry in Cape Town‘ (Project 2021-031-2-050) \n— \nPost Conference – “Chemistry Education is the Way Forward” (online post) \n  URL:https://iupac.org/event/26th-iupac-international-conference-on-chemistry-education/ LOCATION:Lagoon Beach Hotel\, 1 Lagoon Gate Drive\, Milnerton\, Cape Town\, South Africa CATEGORIES:International Conference ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://iupac.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/ICCE2020_CapeTown.png GEO:-33.892231;18.4833947 X-APPLE-STRUCTURED-LOCATION;VALUE=URI;X-ADDRESS=Lagoon Beach Hotel 1 Lagoon Gate Drive Milnerton Cape Town South Africa;X-APPLE-RADIUS=500;X-TITLE=1 Lagoon Gate Drive\, Milnerton:geo:18.4833947,-33.892231 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20220717 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20220722 DTSTAMP:20231228T231111 CREATED:20190612T151434Z LAST-MODIFIED:20220822T184429Z UID:9738-1658016000-1658447999@iupac.org SUMMARY:49th World Polymer Congress - MACRO2022 DESCRIPTION:To assemble polymer scientists from all over the world to share knowledge\, experience and skills.\nTo provide a forum for polymer scientists to discover opportunities for collaboration or research study leaves.\nTo provide students opportunities to develop networks that would benefit their career development.\nTo enable senior graduate students to seek opportunities for post-doc or employment.\nTo demonstrate the multi-disciplinary nature of polymer science research. \nChair of Local Organizing Committee\nLena Horne – Lena.Horne@umanitoba.ca\nWinnipeg\, Manitoba\, Canada \nwww.macro2022.org \nVISIT MACRO IUPAC Trade Booth … \n\nSee also Educational Workshop in Polymer Sciences 2022 (IUPAC project 2021-021-1-400) \n\n!! It can gain from collaboration between scientists from different countries in examining different learning environments and new ways in which technological societal\, and economic issues. As researchers\, we look for elements that promote students’ motivation to study chemistry\, and we constantly develop ways to prepare chemistry teachers and support their continuous development during their careers. \nThe European Conference on Research in Chemistry Education is aiming at improving science education all over the world.  It is significant at present time\, due to the fact that there is a decline in students in high school who choose to major in chemistry\, and as a result – a shortage of chemistry students at the universities. Researchers from all over the world are invited. \nThe theme of ECRICE 2020 –Excellence and Innovation in Chemistry Teaching and Learning– reflects the innovative nature of the field of chemistry teaching and learning\, as well as our constant striving for excellence. Yet\, we remind ourselves a quote of Marie Curie “Have no fear of perfection; you’ll never reach it.” \nContacts:\nRachel Mamlok-Naaman \nor Ron Blonder \, conference chair \n  \nPhoto by Roel Dierckens on Unsplash URL:https://iupac.org/event/european-conference-on-research-in-chemical-education/ LOCATION:Weizmann Institute of Science\, The Michael Sela Auditorium\, Rehovot\, Israel CATEGORIES:International Conference ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://iupac.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/roel-dierckens_4ECRICE_sm.png GEO:31.892773;34.811272 X-APPLE-STRUCTURED-LOCATION;VALUE=URI;X-ADDRESS=Weizmann Institute of Science The Michael Sela Auditorium Rehovot Israel;X-APPLE-RADIUS=500;X-TITLE=The Michael Sela Auditorium:geo:34.811272,31.892773 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
